What is Breakfast Club?

Breakfast Club is a ‘growth program’. We focus on developing sustainable mindsets in youth from an early age while tackling the issue of absentee students in primary schools due to socio-economic situations.

We take a playful approach to youth development within rural primary schools with the objective of developing sustainable mindsets. Breakfast Club provides children with a substantial meal with all the nutrients they need to contribute to their health and cognitive development. Breakfast Club is more than just a feeding program, it is a capacity-building hub built around the Circular Economy Concept.

Why We Do It

According to the Ministry of Education, a surprisingly large number of children miss school on a weekly basis because their parents/guardians are unable to provide them with lunch money or even a healthy substantial breakfast. The healthy daily meal that the Breakfast Club provides serves to encourage parents to send their children to school.

We see the need to teach sustainability & resource management, conflict resolution and help stimulate strong cognitive development in children. These are all things that no current curriculum teaches. The valuable skills and knowledge imparted will improve student attendance and behaviour, and a build generation of people environmentally conscious.

How We Do It

Breakfast Club leverages the expertise of experts and youth leaders to offer this unique program. Breakfast sessions are fun-filled with highly engaging and informative activities geared toward capacity building and strong cognitive development. All activities are strategic and built around the program’s main objective of tackling student absenteeism while integrating circular thinking into the classroom and ultimately society. Some of these activities include:

  • Engaging and Informative Presentations
  • Question & Answer Segments
  • Word Games
  • Competitions
