Mr. Rushane Emmanuel Somers is an awarded business development professional who began his professional career in 2018 as Junior Business Development Officer at St. Elizabeth Sloane & Company Limited after being named “Top Performing Intern” in September of that year. Mr. Somers added immense value to the firm and outperformed his colleagues within his 3-month internship. Within another 3 months, he was awarded as “Top Performer of the Year” and later promoted to Head of Corporate Social Responsibility. He is also the Marketing Director of Somers Furnishing, a family business and the largest furniture manufacturer on the North Coast of Jamaica.
Due to his known work ethic and short, but notable reputation, he was selected to join the Board of Directors of the Jamaica Rural Youth Foundation as its Executive Director. Since then has restructured and revamped the foundation, which is now on route to becoming one of Jamaica’s most successful NGOs for challenging the status quo by focusing on rural youth development.
Mr. Somers is a student at the University of the West Indies where he is pursuing his first degree in Management Studies. Since attending university and the Moneague College, he has been involved in several activities that have helped hone skills he finds useful today. He also served in various leadership capacities such as Public Relations Officer of the Rex Nettleford Hall Debate & Public Speaking Society and Vice President of the Moneague College Debate & Public Speaking Society and other committees. He has represented the Moneague College in National Debating Competitions on several occasions and as a Bassist for the college’s band at the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission finals. Mr. Somers is considered a generalist for his many useful skills in virtually every capacity within our organization.
